First Night Arrival at Whakapata Cottage, 298 Tora Road.  Note: your arrival date is the first date of your booking,  but you don’t walk until the following day.
4pm – 6pm Arrive at Whakapata Cottage, settle in and spend time with other members of your group. We’ll provide maps, and give you a brief overview of the walk. Your dinner provisions will be in the fridge, ready to heat and serve when your group has arrived.
Day One Whakapata Cottage to Stony Bay Lodge
Degree of Difficulty: Moderate/Difficult
Distance: 15.5km, 5-6 hours with breaks
Morning Have breakfast at your leisure, and depart on the first day of your walk by 9am.
Daytime Take in the amazing vistas, stop for lunch enroute, and make your way to the haven that is Stony Bay Lodge, your home for Night Two.
Evening Relax and reflect on the day. If you’re eager, take the short walk up behind the Lodge to The Crow’s Nest. Enjoy the delicious food prepared by Tineke, which just requires a small amount of input from your group when you’re ready to eat.
Day Two Stony Bay Lodge to The Shearers Quarters
Degree of difficulty: Easy
Distance: 6-11kms (with extras), 2-5 hours
Morning Linger over breakfast, and set off no later than 10.30am. Visit the Opua Shipwreck (optional), before meandering along the coast to The Shearers Quarters, stopping for lunch on your way.
Afternoon After a break, make your way up to The Trig. This is a gut-busting climb – and another optional extra – but one we highly recommend. You’ll be rewarded with unsurpassed views across the ocean.
Evening Settle in for the night at Greentops Farmhouse.
Day Three The Shearers Quarters to Whakapata Cottage
Degree of difficulty: Moderate
Distance: 13kms, 4-5 hours
8am – 9am Head off on your final day along the banks of the Otoroi River, through regenerating NZ bush, back inland to where you started at Whakapata Cottage.
1pm – 3pm Your luggage will return to Whakapata Cottage by 1pm. Have a cuppa, a shower, and take a look at the Tora goodies available in our merchandise shed.  Then, bid farewell to your fellow walkers, departing Tora feeling refreshed and rejuvenated! If you are flying out of Wellington, make sure your flight departs after 5pm.
